When we set out to build an electric bike company that offers stylish, powerful electric bikes at a fair price, we ran into a problem.
Traditionally, bikes are sold either through local bike shops or big box retailers. We wanted to keep our electric bicycles as affordable as possible and start them at around $2,000 price point (find out what exactly what goes into that price point in our Transparent Pricing blog post).
However, to distribute them through traditional bike shops or big box stores, we’d have to add an additional 40% markup to cover the payment that retail stores require to display a product in-store.
This means that a $2,000 bicycle would instantly become a $2,800 one. An average bike that we sell right now costs $2,524, so to sell the same bike through a retailer, we’d have to increase the price to $3,533. Given that we wanted to be able to show our customers the value of every dollar they spend with us, we just couldn’t justify a 40% markup.
So we decided to re-invent the distribution model and find a solution that allows us to keep prices fair and affordable, while providing even better, more personal support to our customers. This approach has worked extremely well for us since we put it in place in 2012.
When you order a bike from EVELO, you will have it shipped directly to your door at no additional charge. In-stock bikes ship within 24 hours from our Washington state warehouse. Once on the UPS Ground truck, the bike will arrive within 5 business days (depending upon your location)..

Where to test ride our bikes?
We know that buying something as expensive as an electric bike online can feel a bit scary.

However, if you’d like to test ride the bike, we also have a great option for that!
To enable everyone to be able to test ride a bike before making a purchasing decision, we launched the first-of-its-kind industry program called the Ambassador Connection!
Who are our Ambassadors? They are regular customers who own an EVELO electric bicycle, use it regularly, and are happy to share their experience with others and even let other people take a test ride on their bike.

How to service your bike?
There is one question that comes up from many customers before they purchase an electric bike – if you buy online and something goes wrong, how will the issue be resolved?
We do realize that if you are buying directly online, rather than through a dealer, you may have concerns about the handling of warranty claims.
98% of our customers already buy from us directly online. We ship out bikes all over the United States and Canada. Selling online has enabled us to keep our prices low, control quality and customer service, and service customers wherever they are – whether there is an electric bike shop near them or not.
If you have a technical issue at any time, the service and warranty process is quite simple.
Step 1: Report the issue via phone (877-991-7272) or email. One of our team members will get back to you within 24 hours. We have customer service agents available 7 days a week to make sure that you never have to wait more than a day for a response.
Step 2: We will first troubleshoot the issue remotely. If the issue requires professional work, we will locate a bike shop near you that will be able to service the bike and make the arrangements for you to drop off the bike. It’s convenient and with no hassle on your part!
Step 3: You drop off the bike at the shop and then we communicate directly with the mechanics there. Your EVELO customer service representative will work with them to analyze the issue and guide them through the repair. If any spare parts are needed, we ship them directly to the shop at no charge to you. Once the issue is resolved, you are notified via email or phone and then you simply pick up the bike at your convenience.
